Wintery Blue's do yah got em?

I don't know about all of you guys, but I am so sick sick of Winter.  I am so ready for another season it's rediculious,,,we are all tired of shoveling, being cold, wearing lots of warm clothes, snow boots, hats, you name it we gotta do it.  Most of you know as you grew up here in ND also so you know what our seasons are like.  We have Winter, More Winter & Road Construction haha....
Today i spent some time catching those dreaded dust bunnies that jus luv to hide in this household....there was a vacuum full of them...I got em all done, got the dusting done, washed the laminate flooring, cleaned my bedroom.  Wow I am tired already.
It seems I can always find things to do, never no such word as boring in my vocabulary.  That word jus doesn't exhist.  Never has & Never will.
I am anxious to see two very good friends of my high school daze, there yah go I am dating myself again, the one friend hasn't seen the other for over 20 years, yikes that's unreal.  There are others that we spent time with too, but two of them live here in this town, but the one is so far up her own u know what, the other one is such a primal liar, I can't handle her.  I wouldn't wanna be her LOL...
So we will try to spend as much time together as the three of us can in a few days of catching up, the ones Mom isn't good, that is hard as she was also like a mom to all of us, we all worked for her in her restaurant downtown.  The Prairie Inn.  I have been praying hard that Carmen recovers but I think that she is jus so tired of fighting for her life.  I pray, pray and pray more....HUGS to yah sweets.
Well enuf babbling.  I gotta go sit by the fireplace where it's so snugglie and cozy and warm.
Luv from this gal here in Kenmare.

Bakin' Day

So darn cold outside today, so gonna stay put.  So was surfin for something to do , so I am trying a new recipe today. http://www.justapinch.com/recipe/chocolate-flan-cake-by-roberta-broussard-robann-feature

I looks simply marvey, so time will tell.

Well today it has  9 years since I lost my Grandma Florence, my bestest buddy, we did lots of things together.  I learned how to do things from her and my Grandpa Oscar whom I miss alot also, he died when I was goin to my first year of college in 1978-Oh how that dates me also.  I just luv these pictures of Gpa & Gma, their Charley Brown Christmas trees were my favorites, I so remember some of their trees.  I even have some of their old Christmas ornaments and I cherish them every Holiday season.  Then then next picture is from about 1938 that baby is my Dad-Ernie.  He is a wonderful man also.  He would do anything for anyone.  As you can see i really cherish my family.
Today is the day to take balloons & flowers to the cemetery to remember Gpa & Gma, but we have so much snow noone would get out there, plus probably can't even see the cross that my Dad Ernie made for out there for my balloons.  I am so disliking winter.  I will always be the one in the family to put my flowers & balloons on families gravesites.  Summer I go to mow at my Mom's Mom's gravesite.  An old  country church.  I bet in it's time it was gorgeous!!!!!!!
Well off to do some Rice Krispie bars, jus what I need.

Survival

We survived the blizzard that started yesterday at noonish, like they had been predicting.  Storms are no fun, esp when it gets so blasted cold out there, today it's 9 above and sunny, which is nice, it makes you feel somewhat better about this all.  Hubby didn't make it home from work lastnite due to the blowing wind and snow.  So he stayed at my brotherinlaw's neices that was so sweet of them to take him in, but I guess any of us around here would help out eachother with anything.
I did go out an about early this morning, I had to back outta the garage many times and many ways to get away from the snow drifts in the alley.  Hopefully the city gets out there and gets the alleys cleaned out as the main streets are cleaned out.  We really owe the city guys a pat on the back, as winter has been a real torture this year.  I am about sick of winter!!!!!!!!!! I am so ready for different weather, makes us wonder why we live up here, but then I couldn't take the big city living either, that would drive me to drinking I would be thinkin'.
We did go on a trip to nice weather in July to Colorado, I hadn't been there since 2002 when I went with my Auntie as she moved to Arizona then I flew back from Pheonix to ND...Big City living isn't for me, but then I guess I never grew up in that type of area, I am a farm gurl at heart.
Well here is hoping that everyone has a wonderful weekend.

Dreary Day

We desperately got to liking the weather we had the past few days, now if that wasn't a teaser!!!!!!!! Now today it is so gloomy & doomy, a person jus' doesn't feel like doing a dang thing.  I have been jus surfing the net, checking out different crafting sites, scrapbookin & you name it sites.
I like to jus follow the flow and click, click, click away, as you never know really where you are going to end up.
Yesterday was a fun day, went out for coffee with a bunch of gurls.  Lots to discuss haha yah right, jus fun to listen to stuff.  The it was off to Minot for gurls day out, we did the mall, did hobby lobby found some good buys for gifts.  Looks like you spent lots but No yah didn't.  It is the thoughts not the value you put onto something.  I luv to buy off the wall gifts that people wouldn't think to buy for themselves most of the time.  So a fun day was had by all of us.  Lots of memories for us to hold.  We also went to Barnes & Noble to have that dreaded neat drinks they serve there.  I had an iced frappichino.  Ok I admit it I can't spell some words.  Oh you get the drift.
So now as I peak outside it is lightly snowing and coming down at a fairly good rate.
It's time now to get dressed and push myself out the door I am gonna go to Mom's to help her do some decorating.
Have a wonderful, I am sure a much needed snowy stormy day later, that's what I bet we are in store for. Until the next time I feel like writing

My Favorites.....

I have always had a fondness for Lavender Roses.  There is a meaning also for these:                          Lavender: Enchantment, Majesty, Love at First Sight  The color purple has a traditional association with royalty. In this regard, shades of lavender roses suggest an air of regal majesty and splendor.  I have many tatoo's  that are lavender roses.  I had lavender roses when I married my husband Clyde who gave me a wonderful life.  I am very fortunate to have a great husband.   I guess I get a little frustrated at times, I need to learn to relax.  But I guess it jus stems back to my other life I had.
I luv the color purple for clothes or just about anything.  I had one bedroom in the lavender tones.  I still kept the lavender wallpaper I have in my office, but changed the wall coloring.  I also added black bookcases to fill with all my books that I have collected over the years.
So you can see why the meaning for Lavender Roses fits me to a tee.  Life is full of enchantment, majesty & we always want to have our Love at first sight.  Thanks for the wonderful sunshine of a day.

Midstream

Well  we are getting close to the middle of February.  Everyone is about as sick of winter as I am.  It's been such a cold session lately, we did have a few nice warm days where it was almost 80 degrees difference, now how can Mother Nature be so different from one day to the next.  That ground hog hopefully is right an we get an early Spring.  I am very ready for my deck furniture, sittin out there having a cup of coffee.
I am on the 61st day of No-Smoking.  Unreal for me, as I have smoked for years.  Hopefully it works, I jus take it one day at a time.  I have been keeping busy.  I been doin my Spring Cleaning early, that way when the weather changes I dont' have to be inside, I can be outside...YIPPEE!!!!!!!!!!!!
I have a few projects to finish up yet also.  So hopefully I will get them accomplished.
Well hope everyone is enjoying their month of Feb, as I want it over LOL
Until the next posting.

Homemade Valentine Conversation Heart Candy-Get ready for Vday

Why buy conversations hearts when it's easy to make your own.  Your kids can roll the dough and use cookie or fondant cutters to make the hearts.  These also taste better.

Conversation Hearts:

1 tsp gelatin (1/2 packet)
1 tsp light corn syrup
1/4 cup of water
1 lb of powdered sugar, plus a little extra for dusting
Vanilla or almond extract
Food coloring
Food markers
Heart shaped fondant or cookie cutters
1. Mix the gelatin, corn syrup and water in a microwave safe bowl. Microwave for about 30 seconds or until the gelatin has been melted.
2. Mix the above gelatin mixture and 1 cup of powdered sugar with a hand or stand mixer. Continue to add powdered sugar one cup at a time. It will turn into a gooey, thick dough.
3. Scrape dough off sides of bowl, and knead on a non stick surface until smooth.
4. Divide and color the dough. If you’re using flavoring, add a few drops. I used vanilla flavored corn syrup so omitted flavor.
5. Knead the color and flavoring into the dough.
6. Roll out the dough and use cookie or fondant cutters to make heart shapes. The dough is supposed to be about 1/4″ thick.  If your child is rolling the dough unevenly, it doesn't matter.
7. Dry hearts overnight on parchment paper.
8. Write words on hearts with a food marker.
